M-I-C-K-E-Y

I think it's great that Mickey Rourke is making a comeback. He's a fabulous actor, perhaps one of the best of our time, and given such astounding performances that have gone unnoticed. However, I think all the hype over The Wrestler as the cause of his comeback are unfounded. To me, Mickey Rourke never went away. There was Point Blank and Animal Factory (in which he is completely unrecognizable), Robert Rodriguez should really be the one credited with giving Mickey his comeback. Has everyone forgotten him casting Mick in Once Upon A Time in Mexico, the highest profile film the Rourkester appeared in six years! It was Mickey who? The Mouse? until this movie, then he started showing up everywhere. And it lead to what is perhaps is best performance ever as Marv in Sin City.

So let's give credit where credit is due people. When thinking of how great it is that Mickey Rourke is making a comeback, don't think of Darren Aronofsky, think of the real man behind the rise of Mickey, Robert Rodriguez.
