It's been a busy few weeks as I've been working on some personal stuff and haven't had much time for writing or posting on here. Hopefully I'll have more time in the next few weeks and finally get back to the novel I've been working on.

There is some exciting news, however! The script I wrote I LOVE YOU BECAUSE based on the play 9 Months by Thomas J Kline, has been completed and we are currently seeking funding so that we can pay and feed the actors. We aren't asking for a lot of money, our total budget is less than $10,000, and we have some great perk packages in exchange for contributions, so please check out our campaign page

I LOVE YOU BECAUSE IndieGoGo Campaign

and watch the videos. We put a lot of work into the videos each week, so please take the time to watch them.

If you can't afford to contribute financially, there are other ways you help us out. For instance, you can help us spread the word by sharing the page with your friends. We've gotten several donations that way already!

We also did a video spoofing Clint Eastwood's talking to a chair incident which can be viewed here:

Democratic National Convention

Unless some chick takes her shirt off, nobody at the DNC is going to top Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair.

Got some work done on a novel I'm working on. Not a whole lot and it's just editing & rewriting a false start, but it is work and hopefully this time I'll make it through to the end. Just haven't really felt like writing much lately and I'm not sure why. Burnt out maybe? But must carry on, see it through to the end.

The Bunnyman Director's Cut

Hey everyone, please check out The Bunnyman Director's Cut, a film I wrote and directed

Outlines

Got quite a bit of work done this afternoon outlining future novels. Still scraps here and there, blank space in some of them, and some I have no idea where it's going to go after the first scene.

Does anyone have a preference for outlining or not outlining? If you do, why do you think it helps or makes a difference to your writing or plot? For those of you who don't outline, what makes you choose to go this route?

Galley Proofs

I finished going over the galley proof for my next book today. It's strange how a book still doesn't seem finished even when it's in book form with the cover and everything set up. Anyone else feel this way?

I cut out a few passages, rewrote a few so they fit the voice I was going for better, and a few other minor changes and now it's all set and ready to send out to the masses!

Going to spend rest of the afternoon working on an outline for the 1st book in the Scion series. What writing are you working on today?

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

Started work on the 2nd chapter of book 1 of the Scion series. Realized I'm going to have to throw out the work from the graphic novel and start pretty much from scratch, kind of disappointing because it renders what I wrote today useless, but in the long run, it's going to be much better this way. Part of the problem is with the graphic novel, book one ended at a specific point that leads into the second book. In graphic novel format, this point would have been a good sized book. In novel form it won't even make a novella length. So, now going to work on a outline and see where it goes from there.

The Pink Gun

Finished writing The Pink Gun today. Wrote it in two days, technically, although there was a little over a week between those two days.

Another 1st Draft Complete

Finished writing The Pink Gun today. It was inspired by something a friend of mine posted on Facebook about wanting a pink gun. Wrote it in two days, although there was quite a space of time between those two days. Gonna relax by reading some Hemingway and watching Lockout.

Anybody seen Lockout? If so, what did you think of it? More than just a rip off of Escape From New York? Is Guy Pearce's Snow more of a bad ass than Snake Plissken?
Gahhh! Lost my notes for a story I'm in the middle of writing! This is why I never like to travel while working on a project. I didn't take it with me, I don't think. And I can't remember where I left it. Got to get caught up on my writing notebook so this doesn't happen again. So extremely disappointed right now.

Sion

Completed the first chapter of the first Sion book today. It was originally supposed to be an epic graphic novel series, but with Jason's lack of interest in drawing anything for it-he got started, but procrastinated, so very little ever got done on it, so I decided to rewrite it as a plain old novel. Won't be as spectacular as I planned, since it's not in graphic novel form anymore, but will still be a totally epic series.

The Pink Gun

Started working on the story today. Going very well and fast.

Where Angels Tread 5/ I Love You Because

Worked on typing up Where Angels Tread in 3rd person. Story much better now. Words came easier, scene not as stilted as it was before.

Got up to scene 32 in I  Love You Because revisions. Kind of wishing I had not taken it on. Had put all this time and energy into something of mine, but this could lead to bigger/better things.

ILYB/ Where Angels Tread 4

Edited a few scenes of I <3 U Because

Worked on editing/rewriting ...Angels Tread. Still not working for me. Thinking of switching the story to 3rd person. Distancing myself from it some may help. Original idea was to have some stories from 1st, some from 3rd, but not sure switching back & forth would work. Might be too disorienting to reader. So will probably just go w/ all stories being told from 3rd person perspective.

Where Angels Tread 3

Finished story ...Angels Tread. Needs a lot of work, but have something decent to go on now. Cut sentimentality. Try for hard hitting Hemingwayesque prose.

Where Angels Tread 2

Added better opening. Tell about black janitor that used to eat his lunch in the waiting room. Then go into what I wrote yesterday.

Where Angels Tread 1

Started on first story for Angels Tread. Don't like it. Doesn't go anywhere. Going to start over tomorrow.

I'm seriously considering going to see Dark Shadows. Big fan of the show; used to rush home from school to catch reruns on Sci-Fi. But the trailer has me concerned. Looks cool and all, but fear it may end up being kind of stupid. Wait, what am I talking about? Tim Burton and Johnny Depp: it's going to be awesome!

Spending the morning watching midwife videos.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Didn't feel much like writing today, partly due to spending the morning at the side of a dying kitten, and secondly because the current script I'm working on is proving more difficult to adapt from the original play than I had anticipated. The play, which was not written by me, works well as a play, but has the inherent problem of plays in that they are generally closed off to one or two locations. Problems I'm having are with opening the story up into more locations so that the majority of the scenes don't all take place in the main couple's apartment, to keep the film from becoming static. Every scene I add, it seems like two more needed to be added in just to help smooth the transition from the original scene in the play to the added scene in my version of the film script. Ug. So instead, worked on catching up on some journaling and research.
